So what is it actually like?

Five counties, one metro

Orlando is not a city so much as a ring of towns that grew into each other around a set of theme parks and a lake district. Everything is thirty to fifty minutes from everything, which is either the freedom or the frustration depending on the day. The further from I-4 you go the more house you get and the longer you sit in the car.

What does it look like on film?

No film from the last three years names Central Florida. Ken has filmed further back, but this room only shows the last three years — so the honest answer here is nothing rather than something old.

How fast is Orlando actually growing?

Metro Orlando welcomed about 76,000 new residents in 2024 — seventh-highest growth in the nation — and the area is now home to nearly 3 million people.

Does living here really save money?

Florida has no state income tax, and the homestead exemption trims property taxes for permanent residents. Orlando's cost-of-living index sits at 93.8 — below the national average, and nearly 60% less than New York.

What’s on?

Nothing on our calendar in Central Florida right now. We list what named sources publish rather than scraping every flyer in the county, so an empty week here means our sources are quiet — not that nothing is happening.

What would I do on a Saturday?

What Central Florida is doing on Saturday, October 3 — from our calendar and from Google’s hours, nothing invented.

Our calendar has nothing dated to that Saturday in Central Florida, and we did not get hours back for the places above. So the honest answer is the stops themselves — that is what is there on any Saturday, and we are not going to invent a schedule around it.

What would annoy you about living here?

Everything out here is connected by road, and only by road. The car is not optional, and I-4 is the one spine everyone shares.
