SR 516 Lake/Orange Expressway: eastern end past halfway, first traffic due spring 2027
The 4.4-mile toll connector between US 27 south of Clermont and SR 429 in Horizon West is well into construction on its eastern end — CFX's April 2026 status report puts the SR 429-to-county-line segment at 74.47% complete, with its contract running to late April 2027. In April, the CFX board awarded the final western piece, US 27 to Cook Road, to SEMA Construction and Mehta and Associates, so all three segments are now moving. CFX still lists a spring 2027 partial opening and full completion in early 2029, including a three-quarter-mile wireless EV-charging test stretch near US 27.

SR 516: the eastern segment is three-quarters built, and the middle segment is under way
CFX's April 2026 construction report puts Segment 3 (county line to S.R. 429, SEMA Construction) at 74.47% complete on a $231,042,075 contract that runs to April 27, 2027. Segment 2 (Cook Road to the county line, Prince Contracting, $141,133,517) started construction April 13, 2026. A correction to earlier records: the 58.5% figure reported for Segment 3 in February was the contract's time used, not work complete — the February report shows 68.12% complete.

The agency's official project page lists construction start summer 2024, opening spring 2027 and completion early 2029 for the 4.4-mile Lake/Orange Expressway.
