Ovation Orlando: the old Sun Resort is fully demolished, the 76 acres now sit cleared

The abandoned Orlando Sun Resort at I-4 and US-192 — empty since 2012 — is gone. Demolition that started in February wrapped by early June, with every building on the 76-acre site leveled. Owners Accesso and Meyers Group, who paid $73.3 million for the land in December, are now leasing the planned 650,000-plus square feet of dining, entertainment, and shops alongside three hotels totaling 740 rooms. The developer's site currently points to "2028 and beyond" for opening.

Ovation Orlando: the site is cleared and in leasing — the developer now says opening '2028 and beyond'

No construction, permit or tenant announcements have surfaced since demolition of the old Orlando Sun Resort finished in June; the developer's press page lists nothing newer than January. Its site markets a ground-up dining, retail, attraction, hotel and entertainment district opening '2028 and beyond,' with retail leasing under way and no committed tenants announced. The site's own figures also disagree with the developer's January release — 650,000 square feet on 77 acres versus 670,000 square feet, and news coverage has used 76 acres.
