Moving I-4 Forward at ChampionsGate: bridgework underway, the U.S. 27 leg starts this fall

Crews are actively rebuilding I-4 at ChampionsGate — overnight bridgework closed ChampionsGate Boulevard under the interstate in late June, and Lane Construction holds a $582 million contract to widen the 3.1 miles from ChampionsGate to World Drive, including a rebuilt S.R. 429 interchange. The next leg, U.S. 27 to ChampionsGate Boulevard, went to a public meeting July 28 and is slated to begin construction in fall 2026. FDOT expects the full $2.5 billion, 14-mile program to finish in 2031.
